Mr. Choudhry recently bought a house in POINTE-AUX-TREMBLES .Upon inspection, it was strongly recommended that the attic insulation needed to be changed as there was only 6” of fiberglass insulation.
With the climate of Quebec, 6 inches of insulation in an attic is far from enough to have a comfortable home and to keep the air heated during cold weather.
Often, Poor insulation also leads to higher heating and cooling costs.
The problem
Water infiltration in the attic coming from the roof.
Mr. Thibeault decides to fix the roof and reinsulate the attic of his house.
The solution
Our team of attic insulation experts removed the old fiberglass insulation which was in the attic to clog the air leaks on the attic floor as well as the electrical boxes of the lighting. Then, they blew 16 in’ cellulose to properly insulate the attic and offer a maximum comfort to our client.
Our client, residing in Repentigny, was confused: Despite recently installing fiberglass insulation, he stills feels the same bad effects.
Thus, our specialist Alexandrine visited our client to inspect the attic. She directly sensed the excess moisture, and even noticed some mold on the ceiling. Alexandrine explained that simply putting insulation all the over the attic is not sufficient. Air sealing is a main step that should not be missed. In addition, the amount of installed insulation should help reach a thermal value of R60.
This product is crucial before insulating the attic. If you have recessed lights, these protective boxes prevent air warmed by the light from entering the attic through the cane and wire holes. Hot air impairs insulation in the attic. If air leaks are not sealed properly, you are not taking advantage of the maximum capacity that your insulation can offer you. Hiding the problem under insulation is not the same as fixing it. In addition, the majority of insulation products are not flame retardant. It is dangerous to put insulation directly on recessed lights.

As soon as our expert arrived at her home, he inspected the attic thoroughly.
They were many holes in the attic floor that were not sealed and resulted in air leaks. To add to the problem, the insulation used was fiberglass and was in a bad condition and mold was found. Also the amount of insulation was really inadequate to our Quebec climate.
To solve this problem, our installation team went by the expert's recommandation and began by removing the old insulation. Then they sealed all the holes and gaps such as wiring holes to avoid any air leaks. Finally, they insulated the entire attic floor with 17 inches of our cellulose insulation. Our cellulose insulation is effective, safe, environmentally friendly, durable and yields the best results.
