Overview of the attic
The attic did not have enough insulation. There was about 8” of insulation. It made the house very uncomfortable. The ventilation mats were in a good condition, so we did not replace them.
Seal Air Leaks
After removing the old insulation, we seal the joints between the boards as they are a source of air leakage.
Insulate the access hatch
The attic access hatch is also a source for air leaks. It is often non isolated. So we insulate it with our SilverGlo rigid foam insulation.
16 in of cellulose fibers
We blew 16" of cellulose fibers to effectively insulate the attic with an R-60 value
