Overview of the attic before work had started
Our client had fiberglass in the attic. It is a very common insulator for attics, but very far from being the most efficient.
Lack of insulation and uninsulated electrical wires
The amount of insulation that was in the attic was not appropriate and in some places, there was no insulation.
Seal all sources of air leaks
Once the fiberglass insulation was removed, we sealed all the air leaks that were present on the attic floor. This keeps the heated air in your home longer.
Installation of vents
Our client's attic did not have an attic vent. We have added some to allow a better ventilation
Insulation of the attic access hatch
If your attic hatch isn't insulated, consider doing so, as this presents a major source of air leakage.
Blown Cellulose Fibers
We blow just over 16” of cellulose fibers to achieve an R-60 value.
