Air sealing and Attic insulation in Boisbriand, QC
Challenge
Our client in Boisbriand, reached out after ice dams had formed on his roof following a heavy snowstorm, thus making the house uncomfortable and cold.
Our expert, Patrick examined the attic and noticed mold developing on the fiberglass insulation. He explained to M. Stéphane that this was due to moisture within the attic, which also is one of the main sources of drafty areas within the house, leading to excessive use of heating/cooling systems to compensate.
Solution
Our team of workers threw away the old insulation before eliminating mold stains and sealed all air leaks. Additionally, they blew in 17 inches of TruSoft cellulose fiber insulation allover the attic floor to achieve an optimal R60 thermal value.
