An uninsulated attic in Saint-Hubert, Qc
Challenge
If your attic is poorly sealed, then air will seep into surrounding rooms, causing uncomfortable temperatures that will force you to exhaust your HVAC system and drive up energy costs. If this sounds familiar, the home energy experts at Systèmes Éconergie are here to help!
Since the attic of Mr. Lebel's house was poorly insulated, his home had become uncomfortable and the heating costs were very getting high. He called in a RénoClimat inspector to assess his attic. A low R value of R17 was found. This is insufficient to insulate an attic of a house in Quebec. The inspector recommended that he insulate his attic and have at least a value of R50.
Solution
To solve his attic insulation problem, Mr. Lebel contacted Systèmes Éconergie for a free estimate. Here is what he was offered:
-Seal all air leaks on the attic floor
-Add ventilation mats in the soffits for good air circulation
-Insulate recessed lights
-Blow 16" of cellulose
