Attics problems fixed in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Qc
Challenge
Mr. Gouin from Mont-Saint-Hilaire contacted Systèmes Éconergie because he noticed problems in the attic, in particular frost inside the attic due to poor caulking and poor insulation of the attic.
Solution
To help him out, we sent our attic insulation and home comfort expert to do a free, no-obligation estimate. Our specialist explained to the client that there are several sources that can explain the presence of frost or ice dams in the attic. Hot air and humid air infiltration that comes from lower floors and that rises through interstices, vents such as in bathrooms or kitchen hoods that allow humidity to rise and condense in the attic and shingles in poor condition are just a few examples. When the specialist performs his inspection, he will be able to detect the source of air and moisture infiltration, cracks that let cold and hot air in and out and all other sources.
He will do an in-depth analysis and recommend the best solution for your needs. With this client, our installation team removed the old insulation that was no longer in good condition, caulked the gaps and openings that let air and moisture escape, redirected the bathroom ventilation thanks to an external duct, insulated the access door to the attic which let in a lot of hot air, then finally, they insulated by blowing Trusoft cellulose throughout the attic in order to offer superior insulation in density and resistance thermal. This cellulose provides an even layer that fills in holes and insulates the attic properly and effectively.
