Photo Album: Effective Attic Insulation in Pointe-Calumet, QC

Our client, residing in Pointe-Calumet, contacted us as he had concerns about his attic. He had installed new insulation last year, but he did not get the promised results. While there was a reduction in drafts, it was not significant enough. As a result, energy consumption remained excessively high. Additionally, the attic still seemed to be humid. After scheduling a free inspection, one of our specialists visited our client. Upon examining the attic, we noticed that the existing insulation is not in adequate quantity. In addition, when we lifted the existing insulation, we noticed that there were still existing holes allowing air to infiltrate. After receiving authorization from our client, we removed the existing insulation to identify and seal all sources of air leaks. A thorough examination was then conducted to ensure no existing holes were overlooked. Using our revolutionary product, ZypFoam, we completed the sealing process, preventing air from escaping into the attic. This would finally allow us to install our TruSoft cellulose insulation.

Despite looking like it is well insulated, there was still excess moisture. In addition, there were uncomfortable air drafts within the house. This showed that a step is missing in order to have a perfect insulation.

After removing the old insulation we were able to identify several holes, letting the air escape and thus reducing the insulation's performance. It is very important not to omit the step of air sealing in case we want to have an optimal insulation.

It is necessary to mention that the ruler in the pics shows the needed height to attend the thermal value of R60 for both Fiberglass insulation (On the left), and cellulose insulation (on the right). Thus the R60 still visible in the photo is for the Fiberglass and not the cellulose (The insulation we use).
