Photo Album: Attic Insulation in Saint-Sauveur, QC
This customer in Saint-Sauveur recently purchased a new residence and found that the rooms upstairs in his house were very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. In addition to this, there was a lot of ice forming on his roof. Suspecting there was a problem, he contacted us. Subsequently, a certified specialist from Systèmes Éconergie came to assess the situation. Upon arrival, our specialist instantly noticed the layer of ice on the client's roof, and after inspecting the attic, our home comfort specialist confirmed that there was an issue with the client's insulation in the attic. Firstly, the insulation was insufficient, and the existing mineral wool was old. Additionally, there was mold on some of the beams.
We began by removing all the mold in the attic using our product called Mold-X2. We then sealed all possible air leaks with our expanding foam Zypfoam and removed all existing insulation to replace it with our TruSoft cellulose. We sprayed a little over 16 inches of cellulose to achieve an R60 rating.
Following our intervention, this Saint-Sauveur customer now benefits from a well-insulated attic, more comfortable rooms, and lower electricity costs associated with heating and air conditioning bills.
The attic during the inspection
The attic was not in a good state. The existing insulation was inadequate, and hiding lots of air leakage.
Mold Stains on the wood
This was a result of excess humidity in the attic. We used our excellent Mold X2 product to remove all these stains.
Air Sealing before installing the new insulation
We removed the existing insulation and eliminate any sources of air leaks. This will ensure a clean space for installing the new insulation.
The Final Result
We blew in approximately 16 inch of our cellulose insulation to reach a thermal value of R60
