Overview of the attic before the work
There were only 10 in. and less fiberglass mats. This is equivalent to an R-25 value, which is far from sufficient for insulating an attic in Quebec.
Insulation of the duct system
The duct system was not isolated. We insulated it with polyurethane foam to prevent air loss.
Insulate the access hatch
We insulate the access hatch with our SilverGlo insulation to eliminate air leaks.
Overview of work
The exterior wall was insulated with SilverGlo, the chimney was sealed and insulated, then we blasted 16” of cellulose fiber to achieve an R-60 value!
Another preview after the work
Cellulose fiber is effective, safe, installs quickly and is environmentally friendly. Much more efficient than fiberglass.
Another view of the attic
Another glimpse of the attic once the insulation work is complete.
