Insulating a kneewall space in Chateauguay, QC

Challenge

Client was worried about his attic's insulation, specifically a non-insulated kneewall space. This issue was suspected to be undermining the attic's overall insulation performance.

The challenges identified included:

- Moist and foul-smelling kneewall space.

- Potential for mold growth.

- Air leakage points reducing insulation effectiveness.

- High energy bills and inconsistent indoor temperatures due to inadequate insulation.

Solution

To address these challenges, we implemented a comprehensive attic insulation renovation:

- Air-Sealing: Sealed all potential air leakage points to maintain insulation integrity.

- Insulation: Installed blown-in cellulose insulation, chosen for its thermal performance, eco-friendliness, and fire resistance, achieving an R-value of R60.

- Thermal Insulation: Applied SilverGlo thermal insulation on the walls.
