Problems with ice damns in an attic in Laval, Qc
Challenge
Mr. Tang contacted Systèmes Éconergie to re-insulate his attic because he had problems with an ice dam on his roof in winter.
He also felt breezes of cool air in the rooms upstairs. This was due to poor insulation in his attic. He only had 6” of fiberglass insulation in his attic. Which is not sufficient for good insulation here.
Solution
In order to solve our client's problem, our experts removed the old fiberglass insulation in order to seal all the air leaks present on the attic floor (joints, holes, etc.). Then they installed vents on each end of the attic for better ventilation and to prevent air from coming into contact with the insulation. Eventually, they blew out just over 16” of cellulose fibers.
