The problem

Mr. Cadieux contacted Systèmes Éconergie because he had no insulation in his attic. He also felt a difference in the temperature of the rooms in the house, some were colder and some were warmer, which made his house feel uncomfortable.

The solution

Remove the fiberglass insulation, seal all air leaks on the attic floor with expanded foam, add vents for better ventilation and blow out just over 16” of cellulose fibers.

In this residence located in Saint-Polycarpe, the attic had aging and insufficient insulation, accompanied by air leaks around the hatch and mechanical penetrations, resulting in significant heat loss and a decrease in the home's energy efficiency. In order to optimize the building's thermal performance, our team completely removed the old insulation, followed by rigorous sealing of air leaks to improve the airtightness of the envelope. We then installed an insulated hatch cover and SilverGlo insulation panels to reinforce the insulation at the attic access point. The project was completed with the application of a new layer of TruSoft blown cellulose insulation, ensuring uniform coverage and increased thermal resistance. This improvement helps reduce heat loss, optimize residential energy performance, and provide lasting thermal comfort for occupants.

Our client had not inspected their attic for a long time and was sure there were problems. We removed the old insulation and sealed all the air leaks. Then, we blew our TruSoft cellulose insulation throughout the attic to achieve an R60 thermal value.
