Last month, we received a message on our Facebook account from a homeowner in a Montréal-Nord. She expressed her concern about the state of her attic insulation.

Our specialist Karim visited for a free inspection. Upon arrival, the specialist found that the existing insulation was in a state of severe deterioration. The insulation material was not only old but also rotting, likely due to prolonged exposure to moisture and inadequate ventilation. This bas insulation was contributing to high Hydro bills and inconsistent indoor temperatures. In addition, there was uneven heating, and signs of moisture damage in the attic.

A comprehensive attic insulation renovation was set to address the issues. The process started by carefully removing the existing rotting insulation. This task was performed with safety precautions to avoid the spread of mold spores and other contaminants throughout the house. After the old insulation was cleared out, we meticulously air-sealed all potential leakage points in the attic. This step was crucial to prevent warm air from escaping in the winter and hot air from infiltrating in the summer. Special attention was given to sealing gaps around pipes, vents, and other penetrations. Once the attic was properly sealed, we blew in cellulose insulation. Cellulose was chosen for its excellent thermal performance, eco-friendliness, and fire resistance. The insulation was installed to achieve a thermal resistance value (R-value) of R60.

Our intervention not only resolved our client's immediate concerns but also provided long-term benefits that enhanced the overall efficiency, comfort, and health of her home.
