Insulating a humid attic in Kahnawake, Quebec

During an attic insulation job, we encountered extreme humidity levels that had caused mold spores to develop within the old insulation. Our team removed the damp, contaminated insulation and thoroughly treated the area to eliminate all mold spores. Once the attic was properly cleaned and sealed, we installed our TruSoft cellulose insulation, achieving a thermal value of R60. This not only enhanced the home's energy efficiency but also addressed the moisture issue, creating a more comfortable and healthier environment for the homeowners.

Mr. Leduc contacted Systèmes Éconergie because he wanted to re-insulate his attic. He did well because his attic was very poorly insulated. In some places there were only 5 in’’ of fiberglass!

We removed the old insulation, sealed all air leaks, insulated the access hatch and blew 16” of cellulose fiber to achieve an R-60 value.

The problem

The lack and the  poor insulation of Mr. Robinson's attic made the rooms in his house very uncomfortable. He also noticed that the energy costs were getting higher, way more than the previous years. He therefore contacted Systèmes Éconergie for a free estimate.

The solution

Our team of experts removed the old insulation to seal all air leaks on the floor such as the joints between the boards. They insulated the access hatch and blew 16” of cellulose fibers to have an R-60 value.

With this solution, Mr. Robinson will be able to regain the comfort of his home and will have less energy costs.

Attic Insulation in Lachine, Qc

The problem

Mr. Zerczy had only 5 to 10 inches of fiberglass insulation in his attic. The lack of insulation made his house very uncomfortable and he had noticed that the energy costs were getting very high.

The solution:

Remove the fiberglass insulation in order to seal all air leaks on the attic floor such as joints, holes, and recessed. Install vents all along the soffits to ensure good ventilation of the attic and prevent air from coming into contact with the insulation and then blow a little more than 16 in cellulose fibers to obtain an R-60 value.

Problem:

Mr. Ouellette contacted Systèmes Éconergie because his attic was very damp and mold was growing. He wanted to have it checked by a specialist.

Solution:

Our team cleaned the surfaces with our MoldX2 product to remove the mold, added ventilation mats in the soffits to improve air circulation and avoid the humidity and then blew 16 in. of cellulose fibers.
