Enhancing Energy Efficiency by Insulation an Attic in Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, Quebec Enhancing Energy Efficiency by Insulation an Attic in Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, Quebec

Our client's home in Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, Quebec, suffered from significant comfort issues, with the living area frequently being either too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. Additionally, they were burdened by high heating and cooling costs, largely due to poor attic insulation, which provided insufficient thermal protection. To address these problems and improve the overall energy efficiency of the home, our production team began by removing the old fiberglass insulation to expose and properly seal all air leaks on the attic floor and walls. We then seal all the leaks to prevent heat and cooling losses during distribution. Finally, we installed over 16 inches of our high-performance cellulose fiber insulation TruSoft. These upgrades contributed to significant reductions in energy consumption and Hydro bills.

Job Stories From Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, QC
Attic Insulation in Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, Quebec

A client reached out to us due to inadequate attic insulation, with certain areas containing very little insulation, less than 10 inches of fiberglass. This deficiency led to  heat loss, contributing to the formation of ice dams during winter and overall thermal discomfort within the home all year long.

To address these issues, our team began by removing the existing insulation. This step allows us to identify all the sources of air leaks. Next, we continued by performing comprehensive air sealing. All holes, such as electrical wire openings and framing joints were sealed using our ZypFoam. Recessed light fixtures were individually encapsulated with fire-resistant enclosures, which were then air-sealed to prevent convective heat loss. The attic access hatch was insulated using our rigid SilverGlo panel to improve its thermal value. Finally, over 16 inches of cellulose insulation were blown, providing a thermal barrier that meets current energy efficiency standards.
