Mr. Benchimol contacted Systèmes Éconergie to review the insulation of his attic, because it had not been changed for years.
Our team therefore removed the old fiberglass insulation to blow 16 inches of cellulose. This will give an R60 thermal value to the attic.
Cellulose insulation offers a superior R-value compared to traditional fiberglass batts, which immediately improves your efficiency. Cellulose is also a more durable material and won't compress or be damaged by pests, ensuring that your insulation stays effective over time.
During winter, Ms. Doucet had problems with an ice dam on her roof. This was due to poor insulation of the attic and to unclogged air leaks. Ms. Doucet therefore contacted Système Econergie for a free estimate and to re-insulate her attic.
To solve this problem, our experts removed the old insulation that was in the attic to plug all air leaks (sealing joints, holes and the so alike) with our expanded foam. They then insulated the access hatch with our SilverGlo insulation panels. Eventually, they blew just over 16 ”of cellulose fiber insulation all over the attic floor.
With this solution, Ms. Doucet will have nothing to fear again regarding any ice dams for there will be none.
