Overview of the attic before work
The poor insulation of the attic caused ice dams on the roof and lots of discomfort in the house.
Only 6 '' of insulation!
Our client only had 6” of fiberglass insulation. Which is far from sufficient for the climate of Quebec.
Air leaks
The holes through which the electrical wires pass and the joints represent air leaks. Heated air escapes faster through these holes. We need to seal them to eliminate air leaks.
A poorly insulated access hatch
Another air leak is the attic hatch. It is important to isolate it well.
Insulating the hatch
We have insulated the access hatch properly in order to eliminate air leaks.
Sealing Air Leaks
All holes and joints have been sealed with our expanded polyurethane foam.
Installation of vents
Our client did not have a vent in his attic. So we installed better ventilation for him in the attic.
Blown Cellulose Fiber Insulation
We blow just over 16” of cellulose fibers to achieve an R-60 value!
