Optimization of attic insulation and airtightness in Sabrevois, QC
Challenge
A residence in Sabrevois, Quebec, had ineffective attic insulation caused by old, compacted insulation that no longer performed its function properly. In addition, several air leaks around penetrations and the attic hatch were causing significant heat loss during the winter and reducing the home's energy efficiency. This type of situation can increase energy consumption and reduce indoor comfort, as warm air easily escapes through the attic when the sealing and insulation are inadequate.
Solution
Our team carried out a complete upgrade of the attic insulation, starting by removing the old insulation in order to prepare the space and inspect the attic floor surface. We then carefully sealed air leaks around cables, ducts, and openings to improve the building's airtightness. To reinforce the insulation at the attic access point, an insulated hatch cover and SilverGlo insulation panels were installed. Finally, a new layer of TruSoft blown cellulose insulation was applied to achieve uniform coverage and optimal thermal resistance. This solution now reduces heat loss, improves thermal comfort, and optimizes the home's energy performance thanks to modern and durable attic insulation.
