Poorly insulated attic with fiberglass
Our client had poor insulation in his attic. This made his house uncomfortable and created ice dams on her roof in the winter.
Step 1: Seal Air Leaks
Once the old insulation is removed, we seal the air leaks on the attic floor (joints, holes, recessed, and others). This allows the air you heat in your home to stay there and not escape through the attic.
Step 2: Install Vents
The attic had no vent. Our team has therefore installed them to allow controlled ventilation in the attic and direct the air to the top of the attic.
Seal around ducts
We seal around ductwork to eliminate air leaks.
Insulate the access hatch
The attic access hatch is often a sheet of drywall and is also a source of air leakage. We insulate it to reduce air leakage.
Step 3: Blow Cellulose Fiber
Finally, with all the air leaks sealed, the vents installed, we blew out just over 16” of cellulose fibers.
