Systèmes Éconergie Case Studies: Uninsulated Attic in Verdun, Qc
Mr. Simard contacted Systèmes Éconergie to have his attic insulated. He had very high energy costs as well as problems with an ice dam on the roof of his house in winter. Both of these problems are caused by the lack of insulation in his attic.
In order to solve Mr. Simard's problem, our experts removed the old fiberglass insulation, then they sealed all the air leaks in the attic (joints, ducts, etc.). Eventually they blew just over 16” of cellulose fibers. With this solution, the attic reached an R-61 value and our client will notice a saving on his energy costs and will no longer have problems with ice dams on his roof in winter
Problem: Uninsulated Attic
Solution: Cellulose blowing
Our client had poor insulation in his attic. This made his house uncomfortable and created ice dams on her roof in the winter.
We seal the air leaks on the attic floor (joints, holes, recessed, and others)
The attic had no vent. Our team has therefore installed them to allow controlled ventilation in the attic and direct the air to the top of the attic.
Finally, with all the air leaks sealed, the vents installed, we blew out just over 16" of cellulose fibers.
