Mr. Rouleau had problems with an ice dam on the roof of his house every winter. He knew it was not normal and was really worried about this situation. Following his research, he contacted Systèmes Éconergie to have a free inspection of his attic. Our specialist, Karim, explained to him what caused the ice dams. In fact, the air leaks in the attic and the poor insulation that sends heated air from your home to the roof will melt the snow and when the water gets to the end of the roof it freezes and forms a dam and icicles.

The solution was to remove the old insulation and then seal the joints and drilled holes for wires and recessed lights with polyurethane foam to prevent air leaks. Next, we blew 16” of cellulose. Our client can now have peace of mind for the next winter and should see no more ice dams!

Then, once removed, they sealed all holes that were provoking air leaks. Holes that were found were wiring holes, around the pipes and air duct. Once all holes were sealed, they install our cellulose insulation on the entire attic ground. 

Our cellulose insulation gives the best results for a perfect insulated attic. It is effective, quick to install, safe and environmentally friendly.

After the job was done, the customer quickly saw the difference. His home was warmer during winter and no more ice damming were on the roof.
